The Revolution
I like the idea of protesting with tea bags. It is pretty cool... though hopefully not to many people will end up saying what they showed on The Daily Show about tea bagging the whitehouse...... I think it was on the daily show anyway.

NASA Robitics Competition: FIRST
I meant to go up to Richmond today for the FIRST competition but I decided not to in the end because of the travel time... Oh well maybe next year I will get involved in it. ANYWAY, you should watch some of the archives! It is pretty good. The teams put together these robots within 6 or 7 weeks! I don't even think I could do that if I had a whole year!

New Cable Company
By cable, I mean Cable Internet access... I don't have cable but if I did I probably would have issues with that too! Anyway... Last Monday the company was supposed to switch me over to their new system. Well, it seems they had issues and were still working on it on Tuesday. So it still doesn't work when I get home on Tuesday after work, so I call them to let them know and they had to send a person out and they cannot get a person to come out till friday. Well on friday they gave me a 4 hour window when they will be here, 8-12. He came at 10ish so not to bad. Gets it fixed by removing a filter it works. Well okay it looked fine but I needed to go to work. I start playing some games with my friends to test it out. Well there are a couple of issues. One is the bandwidth is very very small this is because it is a community cable line and it depends on how many people are on it. Apparently they cannot do anything about it even though it says on their website is it is slow they will upgrade their equipment. So WTF I pay 2 dollars less and get like 5% of the speed!!!!!!!!! This is retarded! In addition to this my connection is frequently dropping out! I watch TV basically through the internet... if it drops out that suxs! even more the games I play with my friends will be dropped!
Anyway, I really need to look into what phone company they have here so I can look into getting DSL. BECAUSE THIS CABLE COMPANY SUXS!

Dragon*Con: The Full Story
I guess I should post about Dragon*con, but I think everyone who reads this knows I plan on going! Here is the full story! About 2 years ago, maybe 2.6666, one of the friends I made in Georgia invited me to go to this con called Dragon*Con! Well, there was a little problem of me being in school and not having the money to attend much less being in the area to attend.
The problem of not being in the area isn't really a problem because it is in Atlanta, Ga. As you may or may not know, Atlanta is a MAJOR hub for Delta and also has many other airlines that fly into it. The other problem is money which hopefully is solved this year as I have a job now!!!
Anyway, I invited my friends 2 years ago to attend but no-one wanted to go up to dragon*con with me besides other factors involved... needless to say I did not go. This past year I was involved in my starting of my new life in Va. However, while in NM I talked my cousin into going to dragon*con 2009! This was supposed to be kept a bit secret to limit the people we know from going however this seemed to fall apart. Now it seems we have my Aunt, Uncle, Dad, and maybe other family who wants to go... While this seems very interesting that they are so willing to go but I cannot convince my friends from Embry-Riddle to go. It is not over however as I have 2 maybes who are willing to attend! I am not sure if they realize the pre-planning that needs to go into place but I have a room and if there is floor space they are welcome to it! Hopefully, my family will not want to all bunk up with me.
And if you want to know what goes on at dragoncon here is a video "Inside the Con."

NASA Talk
Okay so administration did not fit in the description I guess there is a text limit...
SOOooo, I thought I would open a discussion topic on something that relates to some of us a little better then just generally bashing the government!! Because we all know that politics is inefficient and over all is supposed to not work at what it does. It is only scary when they actually start passing laws! However, it seems this bureaucracy is starting to infect NASA... okay probably not starting too, it has!
NASA on NPR
The video was actually solicited by management to find out what was wrong with part of nasa. He decided to make a video instead of a boring power point in hopes that it will hit home a bit more. *note: if you watch the video make sure you read the subtitles...*
The problem: NASA as an entity has started to budget their time of every individual for the whole year. They decide to do this through programs aka the program office. If you are not working on something that you can charge to a program then you are not doing your job! Well this kind of makes sense in that we know they are doing their job if we make them charge it to a particular spot. If their results do not reflect the time they charge then they are obviously not doing their job. Or so this is how I envision it (I do not actually do this I just have sat in meetings and have gathered this information, the army does not do this).
The Real Problem: NASA does not give employees time to work on their own project and become innovative and creative. You know creating projects that they would enjoy doing and would probably be successful and give the scientific community more insight into those areas of research. There is probably other pros and cons you can post reply too!
My Solution: Start making projects pay an additional 10% of the time of the employee to work on their own project! (Also an additional time for training they should be allocated for instead of assuming they can get it done in 0% time.)
NASA Solution: I am not exactly sure what NASA's solution is yet at this moment. I know that the RTD (research technology directorate) director is coming to visit the aeroelasticity branch (which is who NASA attached the army too... at least our team) to have an open discussion on innovation and creativity.
BTW- if you have anything else to post about NASA please do!
